The Orchards Michigan in Armada, MI is seeking a Resident Assistant to provide essential care and support to residents, promoting dignity and independence. You will assist with daily living activities, monitor well-being, and help create a safe, comfortable environment under facility policies.

This role emphasizes compassionate caregiving, teamwork, and clear communication with residents, families, and staff. No heavy lifting beyond 50 lbs required; training provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in caregiving preferred but not required.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Basic infection control knowledge.
• Good communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with ADLs such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
• Provide companionship and emotional support.
• Observe and report changes in residents’ condition to nursing staff.
• Support meal assistance and hydration.
• Assist with light housekeeping and room organization.
• Promote safety through fall prevention and use of equipment.
• Escort residents to activities and appointments.
• Document services and follow individualized care plans.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist residents with ADLs such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility
• Provide companionship and emotional support
• Observe and report any changes in residents’ physical or mental condition to nursing staff
• Support residents with meal assistance and hydration
• Assist with light housekeeping and room organization to maintain a clean environment
• Promote resident safety through proper use of equipment and fall prevention techniques
• Escort residents to activities and appointments as needed
• Follow individualized care plans and document services provided
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Previous experience in caregiving or assisted living preferred, but not required
• Ability to work compassionately with older adults
• Basic knowledge of infection control and resident rights
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
