Allegheny Health Network’s Wexford Hospital seeks a full-time Unit Secretary for the 5S Med/Surg unit. This on-site role supports patient care by documenting vitals, I&O, and treatments, transcribing orders, and managing admissions, transfers and discharges.

Strong communication with patients, families and the health care team is essential. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED; graduate of a unit secretary program is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of an approved unit secretary program preferred.
• Experience as a unit secretary, PCA, or EMT is a plus.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Responsabilités

• Accurately documents vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, specimen collection and treatments.
• Transcribes orders per policies, clarifying as needed.
• Handles admission, transfer and discharge clerical duties and unit reception.
• Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication with patients, families, physicians and team members.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
