Job summary

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel assignment in Bismarck, North Dakota. The right candidate will have 1-2 years of recent acute care experience and BLS certification, with the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include bedside care, medication administration, dressings, IV starts, patient education, discharge planning, and collaboration with physicians. Travel Nurses must be able to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of acute care experience
• BLS certification
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre- and post-op patients.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepares equipment and aids physician during examination and treatment of patient.
• Educates patients on surgical procedures.
• Participates in discharge planning and initiates patient education plan as prescribed by physician.
