Job summary

Troy/Maryville/St. Jacob/Marine Chamber of Commerce is seeking a dedicated individual to provide direct patient care for adult medical surgical patients. The role involves assisting with activities of daily living, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring patient safety.

Additional Information About the Role

Preferred experience as a CNA, nurse assistant, emergency medical technician, or surgical technician.

Schedule: 2 shifts every six weeks (rotating). Days: 6:45 am – 7:15 pm. Holiday rotation.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care to support licensed professional nurses for a team of adult medical/surgical/telemetry patients on the Med Surg 5th Floor. The team cares for patients pre‑ and post‑cardiac catheterizations, surgical patients, PTCA & vascular interventions, respiratory issues, renal patients, and new tracheostomy placements.

Ensures a safe environment by reducing risk of harm, collecting vital information, and reporting changes to the nursing team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse, promoting patient‑ and family‑centered care.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, vital signs, intake & output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, and point‑of‑care testing.
  • Collect clinical data and report changes in patient status to the nurse.
  • Assist nurse with patient and family education.
  • Document all patient care activities with correct medical terminology.
  • Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
  • Ensure availability of supplies and equipment for each patient.
  • Participate in activities promoting patient safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and professional development.
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED
