Job summary

BJC HealthCare is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Med Surg in Valley Park, Missouri. The role is full-time, night shift, on a General Surgery and intermediate care unit within a bariatric center of excellence.

Nurses will provide direct care to adult surgical patients, including education, monitoring, and medication administration, on a unit offering advanced care outside the ICU. This position emphasizes patient safety and professional development.

Qualifications

• RN with Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree
• License to practice as a Registered Nurse
• No specific software tools required for the role

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
• Educates patients and their families on illness/injury, post-treatment home care, and medication administration.
• Participates in patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
• Participates in professional development.
• Develops, implements, and documents plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team.
• Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
• Uses nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs.
• Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including cultural needs.
• Safety-sensitive position requiring alertness and safe practice.
