Job summary

Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL seeks a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Days) for per diem/PRN shifts. The role involves assessing patients post-surgery, monitoring vitals, and coordinating care with the healthcare team to support recovery and prevent readmission.

Ideal candidates have an active RN license, BLS (and ACLS preferred), and prior acute care experience. BSN preferred; ventilator management experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current (preferred).
• Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.
• Ventilator Management experience preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• 1 year of RN experience required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients' physical, emotional, and mental health.
• Monitor vital signs, intake/output, and other clinical indicators to detect changes in patient conditions.
• Recognize and act on warning signs of deterioration, such as changes in heart rate, respiratory rate, or mental status.
• Safely administer prescribed medications (oral, IV, subcutaneous, intramuscular) and monitor for adverse effects or allergic reactions.
• Act as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure the patient's needs are met.
• Provide patient education on their condition, treatment options, and lifestyle adjustments to support recovery and prevent readmission.
• Communicate effectively with doctors, specialists, physical therapists, and social workers to develop and adjust care plans.
• Epic computer charting.
