Job summary

Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop, LA is seeking a compassionate Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join our inpatient team. You will assess, monitor, and treat medical and post-operative patients, collaborating with physicians and a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care.

The ideal candidate holds a Louisiana RN license, BLS, and prefers or requires ACLS depending on unit needs. Twelve-hour shifts with weekends and rotating schedules are expected.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Louisiana RN license.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred or required based on unit needs.
• Previous Medical-Surgical, Acute Care, or Hospital nursing experience preferred.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, organization, and time management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for medical and surgical patients.
• Monitor patient conditions and promptly identify and communicate changes in clinical status.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments safely and accurately.
• Care for patients recovering from surgery and those with acute or chronic medical conditions.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, procedures, and discharge planning.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Promote patient safety by following infection prevention practices, medication safety standards, and hospital policies.
