Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem in Naperville, IL is seeking an RN Clinical Nurse Practice Specialist to support Med-Surg at Edward Hospital. This expert clinician will apply advanced assessment skills and evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes and mentor nursing staff.

The CNPS will lead education, consultation, and clinical practice improvements across the system, collaborating with Nursing Leadership and Shared Decision-Making Councils to drive sustainable change.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Nursing required.
• Doctorate in Nursing preferred.
• 5+ years clinical experience in a medical center, hospital environment or academic setting required.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois required.
• BLS -American Heart Association Basic Life Support required.
• Current nursing specialty certification; if no specialty nursing certification, certification required within one year of assuming role.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexibility in work schedule; able to effectively interact with colleagues and all members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Provides clinical nursing expertise in area of nursing specialty with advanced nursing skills.
• Assess and recommend education needs for role development.
• Provide staff support and guidance in the development and/or modification of a patient's plan of nursing care.
• Identifies professional practice needs by analyzing data and outcomes.
• Leads quality initiatives and implements change.
• Translates evidence-based practices into clinical nursing practice.
• Evaluates outcomes of nursing practice changes.
• Leads integration, management, and evaluation of technology/products to promote safety and quality.
• Develops evidence-based policies, procedures, and protocols; ensures sustainable change at unit level.
