Mercy Hospital South is seeking a dedicated LPN for the Med/Surg unit on the night shift (7:00pm–7:30am). The role involves using the nursing process to deliver patient care, coordinating with departments, and ensuring patient rights and confidentiality.

A $2,000 sign-on bonus is offered to eligible candidates. Minimum qualifications include graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing program, MO LPN license, and eligibility for required certifications within the department's timeframe.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program or comparable education with licensure.
• Must obtain and maintain a current LPN license in the state where nursing duties are performed and meet State Board of Nursing requirements.

Overview

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program. Consideration will be given to candidates with comparable education, relevant experience, and successful licensure


• Licensure: Must obtain and maintain a current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state where nursing duties are performed. The individual is responsible for meeting and maintaining all State Board of Nursing requirements.

• One or more of the following certifications may be required based on the position, unit assignment, or must be obtained within the department’s specified timeframe:


• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)


• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)


• PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization)


• S.T.A.B.L.E. Program (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, and Emotional Support)


• BLS (Basic Life Support) through the American Heart Association (required within 30 days of hire)


• LPN-IV Certification (Missouri only) – must be completed prior to hire or within 3 months of hire


• Additional unit-specific certifications as required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis


• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout each shift


• Ability to perform essential physical functions, including gripping, reaching, bending, kneeling, twisting, and squatting to carry out job responsibilities
