Job summary

Jackson Hospital in Alabama is seeking a Medical Surgical Technician-Advanced (MST-A) as part of the transition to practice pathway. The MST-A will be assigned to the patient care tech role on a unit, performing duties with supervision while complying with hospital guidelines.

Under direction of a licensed nurse, the MST-A handles patient care, respiratory functions, and unit tasks, while documenting data and communicating changes.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Continued enrollment in an accredited school of nursing RN program.
• Completion of a Nursing Fundamentals course.
• Validation of nursing skills as outlined in the duties & responsibilities section.
• Good academic standing with the nursing program in which currently enrolled.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care, respiratory functions, and unit functions under supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Anticipate patient needs and document relevant data and changes in patient condition.
• Transcribe orders and keep the licensed nurse informed of pertinent changes.
• Operate within hospital policies, protocols and procedures as directed.
