Job description

Med-Peds - Rush Adult and Pediatric Primary Care Advanced Practice Provider

Rush University Medical Center and the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Internal Medicine-Pediatrics, are currently seeking a full-time Primary Care Advanced Practice Provider to join their on-campus practice, Rush Adult and Pediatric Primary Care clinic, formerly known as Lifetime Medical Associates.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of Advanced Practice Provider experience
  • Hold an FNP or PA certification

The Advanced Practice Provider (Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) functions as a member of the healthcare team to provide high-quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush University Medical Center patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the RUMC medical staff bylaws. The role promotes collaboration across disciplines to ensure cost-effective and quality patient care, adhering to all regulatory standards and institutional policies.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Completing and documenting accurate patient histories and physical examinations.
  2. Conducting health assessments and developing care plans.
  3. Ordering and interpreting tests and treatments.
  4. Prescribing medications, including controlled substances, within scope.
  5. Providing clear documentation in electronic medical records.
  6. Consulting and making referrals as appropriate.
  7. Providing direct patient care in hospital or ambulatory settings.

Professional and Leadership duties include:

  1. Collaborating effectively with physicians and healthcare teams.
  2. Acting as an advocate for patients and the profession.
  3. Participating in required provider activities and quality improvement efforts.
  4. Maintaining licensure, certification, and continuing education.
  5. Supporting organizational strategic goals and demonstrating leadership in patient care and resource management.

Educational and community contribution:

  • Engaging in personal development and community health improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Current Illinois Physician Assistant Licensure
  • Certification from NCCPA or recognized agency
  • Degree from an ARC-PA accredited PA Program
  • BLS Certification
  • Competency in medical knowledge, communication, professionalism, and practice management

Preferred: Master's Degree
