Job summary

Hastings Law Firm in The Woodlands, Texas seeks an associate attorney with 2–5 years of plaintiff-side experience in personal injury or medical malpractice who can handle cases from evaluation through resolution and develop into a first-chair trial attorney.

This full-time, in-person role requires strong litigation fundamentals, deposition work, expert collaboration, and the use of AI-powered tools to analyze medical records and build stronger cases.

Qualifications

• Active Texas law license.
• 2–5 years of plaintiff-side personal injury or medical malpractice experience.
• Strong knowledge of Texas civil procedure and Texas Rules of Evidence.
• Deposition experience—taken and defended depositions.
• Excellent legal writing and analytical skills.
• Ability to review medical records and identify material issues.
• Strong technology skills and willingness to learn new tools.
• Ability to manage a caseload and meet deadlines.
• Strong client-facing skills and ability to explain complex concepts.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate potential cases from initial evaluation through resolution.
• Assist with cases from intake through resolution, developing and executing litigation strategy at every stage.
• Take and defend depositions of fact witnesses, medical experts, and corporate representatives.
• Work with medical experts to develop case theories and prepare expert testimony.
• Draft pleadings, discovery requests, motions, and briefs.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, and settlements.
• Utilize AI-powered tools to analyze medical records and build stronger cases.
• Maintain clear communication with clients throughout their cases.
• Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation and exhibit development.
