Wilson Elser is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our Medical Malpractice practice in Houston, TX. You will handle medical malpractice claims, participate in trials, and develop expertise in a growing defense practice.

You will work with a regional defense team, manage a diverse caseload, draft pleadings and motions, and collaborate closely with partners to deliver strategic outcomes for clients. Hybrid work arrangement offered to support work-life balance.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice in Texas.
• Minimum of 2 years of defense litigation experience, preferably in medical malpractice or healthcare defense.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to present legal arguments clearly and concisely.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse caseload of medical malpractice claims, ensuring legal matters progress efficiently.
• Collaborate with attorneys, team members, and partners on strategic legal projects.
• Attend court appearances, depositions, motion hearings, and participate in trial proceedings.

Position

The Associate Attorney will work with a regional defense team, handle medical malpractice claims, participate in trials, and develop expertise in a growing practice area.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse caseload of medical malpractice claims, ensuring all legal matters are handled efficiently.
• Collaborate closely with attorneys, team members, and partners on strategic legal projects.
• Attend court appearances, depositions, motion hearings, and participate in trial proceedings.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, providing case updates, managing expectations, and offering proactive solutions.
• Draft and review complex legal documents, including pleadings, discovery requests, motions, and settlement agreements.
• Contribute to the development of case strategies and support senior team members in preparing for trials and settlement negotiations.
