Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Troy, MI is seeking a Part-time Med Lab Technician to join our clinical lab team. This role offers 24 hours per week, Day shift, with hands-on procedures on blood and body fluids, using both manual techniques and modern instruments.

You will work with technologists and supervisors, operate laboratory information systems, and perform phlebotomy as needed to keep workflows moving. Requires Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent, and MLT certification

Qualifications

  • Completion of an Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field.
  • MLT certification from a recognized agency (ASCP or NCA) preferred.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree with specified science coursework accepted.

Shift: Days

Status: 24 hours per week

Ready to make a real impact in healthcare? As a Med Lab Technician, you'll work alongside experienced laboratory technologists and supervisors to perform a variety of exciting procedures on blood and other body fluid specimens. You'll get hands‑on experience with both manual techniques and cutting‑edge laboratory instruments, plus you'll dive into our information systems. Bonus: you may also get to develop your phlebotomy skills as needed. It's detailed, precise work that directly contributes to patient care—and that's pretty rewarding!

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Perform select laboratory procedures on blood and body fluid specimens using manual techniques and modern laboratory instruments

Qualifications

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Completion of an Associate Degree Program in Medical Laboratory Technology or Laboratory Science required. Alternatively, meeting the educational requirements of #3 below.
  • MLT certification from a recognized national certifying agency (ASCP or NCA) desired or completion of a military 50-60 week technician program and meets the minimum CLIA requirements. Alternatively, meeting the requirements of #3 below.
  • Successful completion an Associates or Bachelor's degree that includes at least (5) college courses from among the following: Anatomy, Biology, Chemistry (inorganic or organic), Physics, Nursing, Statistics, Physiology, Veterinary sciences, Mathematics, Introduction to Laboratory Sciences, Pathology, Microscopic Anatomy (Histology), Biochemistry, Hematology, Immunohematology (Blood Banking), Microbiology, Urinalysis, or Coagulation.
    • Course work outside of the US must be verified by NACES approved credentialing evaluation service.

NOTE - Employees hired prior to 2005 as a Medical Laboratory Technician: Qualifications grandfathered as acceptable in lieu of educational requirement.
