Job summary

Nacogdoches Medical Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory technologist/technician to join our laboratory team in East Texas. The role involves obtaining specimens, performing a range of tests on bodily fluids, and reporting results per established procedures.

qualification includes a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or an Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, with prior lab experience preferred and board certification required or state-approved MT/MLT credential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or an Associate Degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician (or equivalent).
• Minimum experience preferred as a medical technologist/technician; clinical rotation considered for students with pending graduation date.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient specimens and perform laboratory tests on blood, urine, body fluids, and feces according to policies and procedures.
• Report test results accurately and participate in supervision/operation of the laboratory when requested by the laboratory manager.
• Contribute to maintaining proper functioning of the department and hospital laboratory operations.

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, obtains patient specimens, performs laboratory tests on blood, urine, body fluids, feces, and reports test results according to prescribed laboratory policies and procedures. Responsible for the supervision and operation of the laboratory if so requested by the laboratory manager and performs any other task necessary to maintain the proper functioning of the department and the hospital.

Qualifications

Education

Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or an Associate Degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician or equivalent education/clinical work experience.

Experience

Minimum Experience: Previous experience as a medical technologist/technician preferred. Clinical rotation experience will be considered for students who have pending graduation date.

Certifications

Required Certification: Certification by the Board of Registry (ASCP), NCA, AMT or certification accepted by the STATE DOH as an MT/MLT required.
