Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Cedar Park, TX is seeking a Med Lab Scientist 2 to perform and monitor a full range of lab tests and research. You will assume responsibility for problem resolution, quality control, and equipment maintenance with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
• Less than 1 year of laboratory experience.
• ASCP or equivalent certification/licenses required from the listed agencies.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory tests in accordance with department procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Follows quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.
• Maintains instrument calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Accurately reports test results and maintains inventory of supplies.
• Communicates effectively with laboratory personnel and external customers.
• Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.

Education

• Follows quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.
• Performs instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
• Accurately reports test results.
• Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies.
• Maintains effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
• Participates in laboratory projects and educational activities.
• Demonstrates and educates laboratory methods and technical skills to others.

Qualifications

• EDUCATION - Bachelor's or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
• EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience
• CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -

ASCP-Blood Banking Technologist (ASCP-BB), ASCP-Chemistry Technologist (ASCP-C), ASCP-Cytogenetics Technologist (ASCP-CG), ASCP-Cytologist (ASCP-CT), ASCP-Hematology Technologist (ASCP-H), ASCP-International Hematology Tech (ASCP-IH), ASCP-Microbiology Technologist (ASCP-M), Molecular Biology Technologist (ASCP-MB), ASCP-Blood Banking Specialist (ASCP-SBB), ASCP-Chemistry Specialist (ASCP-SC), ASCP-Hematology Specialist (ASCP-SH), ASCP-Microbiology Specialist (ASCP-SM): Must have one certification from one of these issuing agencies: American Board of Histocompatibility (ABHI).

• American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
• American Medical Technologists (AMT)
• American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB)
• Grandfathered HEW Licensee.
