Qualifications

• Possess a current Nebraska 40-hour medication aide certificate.
• Able to read, write, and speak English.
• Relate to and work with disabled and elderly.
• Good public relations skills, professional demeanor, leadership ability.
• Willing to work with the realization that incompetence and errors have serious consequences.
• Demonstrates patience, tact, and composure in emergencies.
• Able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, and walk during shifts.
• Functions according to pharmaceutical and nursing practices and job description.
• Willing to cooperate with Clinical Coordinator and Administrator.
• Aware of own limitations and not to exceed them.

Responsibilities

• Perform health maintenance activities per Kingswood Courts policies and procedures.
• Develop and maintain rapport with co-workers to meet tenant needs.
• Give and receive reports at shift changes.
• Review medication sheets for accuracy and compliance with orders.
• Review tenant medical records to ensure appropriate health maintenance.
• Carry out prescribed medications and treatments under RN supervision.
• Carry out restorative and rehabilitative programs and self-care.
• Take vital signs and chart findings.
• Provide medications according to the five rights.
• Assist with admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Assist with orientation of new tenants/family members.
• Attend mandatory in-service programs and training.
• Maintain confidentiality of tenant care information.
• Report accidents/incidents and complete forms.
• Keep areas clean, hazard-free and properly stocked.
• Support tenant independence and assist with dining and activities.
• Perform housekeeping in apartments and common areas.
• Attend additional duties as directed by supervisors.
