Job summary

Magna Powertrain in Troy, MI, seeks a Spring/Summer 2027 Mechatronics Systems Engineering Co-Op to support vehicle calibration, testing, and data analysis within the Mechatronics Systems Engineering group. You will work on system-level development, calibration strategies, and software control logic, gaining exposure to MATLAB, data acquisition, and test methods as part of a hands-on, safety-conscious team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Enrolled in an engineering program with an accredited school.
• Understand the basics of engineering theory and principles of design.
• Knowledge in computer-based software, strong organizational/communication skills, and ability to work with others in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in vehicle and system-level testing using standardized methods and practices, including data acquisition and analysis.
• Support the development, documentation, and verification of mechatronic system control software strategies through simulation, calibration, vehicle evaluation, and peer reviews.
• Collect and analyze data from vehicles, test bench, dyno, and manufacturing environments; assist in root cause investigations and issue resolution.
• Collaborate with the vehicle applications team to define and refine software control logic and calibration strategies.
• Adhere to established quality management systems and follow all relevant policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
• Maintain a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure safe execution of tasks for self and others.
