Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a Mechatronics Test Engineer at the Texas Institute for Electronics in Austin, TX. You will prototype, assemble, test, and verify mechatronic subsystems used in next‑gen semiconductor equipment, working closely with a multidisciplinary team.

The role emphasizes hands-on build, testing, data-driven verification, CAD, PLC basics, and cross-functional communication. Standard 40‑hour weeks with strong UT benefits, located in Austin.

Qualifications

• Mechatronics Test Engineer I: At least 4 years of experience in electrical/mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, controls, test and measurement, or related disciplines.
• Mechatronics Test Engineer II: At least 6 years of experience in electrical/mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, controls, test and measurement, or related disciplines.
• Mechatronics Test Engineer III: At least 8 years of experience in electrical/mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, controls, test and measurement, or related disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Design, fabrication, assembly of mechatronic testbeds for novel semiconductor subsystems.
• Verification & Test of built subsystems and testbeds.
• Data collection and analysis for quality control.
• Requirements verification and testing.
• Creating and maintaining up-to-date models of the above equipment systems.
• Spec and Procurement of various equipment sub-systems.
• Other duties as assigned.
