Job summary

Belimo is seeking a Mechatronics Technician II in Danbury, CT to perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on electromechanical systems, automated machinery, robotics, and PLC‑controlled equipment. This role serves as a technical resource, mentoring junior technicians and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

The candidate should have an associate degree or equivalent experience, strong PLC skills (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens), and a solid background in mechanical/electrical

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or 3–5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens), sensors, motors, and control systems.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical schematics and electrical codes.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair advanced mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production equipment, robotics, and automated systems.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade mechatronic components and systems, including sensors, drives, actuators, and PLCs.
  • Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams on modifications and process improvements.
  • Read technical drawings, schematics, and ladder logic.
  • Document maintenance activities in CMMS.
  • Mentor junior technicians and ensure safety compliance.

Job description

Introduction

The Mechatronics Technician II is responsible for performing advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on a variety of electromechanical systems, automated machinery, robotics, and PLC-controlled equipment. This position serves as a key technical resource on the maintenance team, supporting continuous improvement efforts and mentoring junior technicians. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, hands‑on experience, and a proactive approach to maintaining and improving complex systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair advanced issues in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production equipment, robotics, and automated systems.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade mechatronic components and systems, including sensors, drives, actuators, and PLCs.
  • Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams on equipment modifications and process improvements.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and ladder logic.
  • Document maintenance activities, parts usage, and system updates in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Train and mentor junior technicians on technical procedures and safety practices.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Expertise
Qualifications
  • Associate degree or technical diploma in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field or 3-5 years of equivalent, relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs (e.g., Allen‑Bradley, Siemens), sensors, motors, and control systems.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, schematics, and electrical codes.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools and test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills.
Working Conditions
  • Industrial or manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, heat, and moving parts.
  • Regular physical activity, including lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing, climbing ladders up to 40ft, and working in confined spaces.
  • May require rotating shifts (including weekends), overtime, and on‑call availability.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.

Compensation & Benefits

Belimo is committed to paying all employees in a fair, equitable and transparent manner. The base pay for this position ranges from $37 - $40 hourly with a target performance bonus of 7% of an employee’s annual base salary. There is an additional 2nd shift pay differential for this position. Compensation is based on several factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, education and experience.
