Job summary

The Center for Disability Services in the Capital Region seeks a Mechatronics/Robotics Engineer to design actuated mechatronic systems and develop embedded control software on platforms like Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and STM32. You will own subsystems from concept to prototype in a fast-moving team with clinicians and engineers.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering, 3+ years in embedded mechatronics or robotics, and strong Python/C++ skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical engineering, robotics or related field.
• Strong familiarity with electronic circuits, motor control, PCB design and rapid prototyping.
• 3+ years of experience in embedded systems, mechatronics or robotics prototyping.
• Proficiency in Python and/or C/C++ for data analysis or automation.

Responsibilities

• Design and build actuated mechatronic systems for assistive devices.
• Develop embedded control software on Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and STM32.
• Design, test and iterate on PCBs for sensor and actuation subsystems.
• Integrate sensors with actuators to build closed-loop control systems.
• Create data acquisition and control workflows; support validation end-to-end.
• Document designs for reproducibility and collaborate with engineers and clinicians.
