Job summary

The Center for Disability Services in the Capital Region and North Country seeks a Mechatronics/Robotics Engineer to design and build electromechanical systems for assistive and healthcare devices. You will own subsystems from concept through prototyping and validation, collaborating with clinicians and engineers.

The role requires a BS in EE/Mechanical/Robotics, 3+ years in embedded mechatronics, experience with Raspberry Pi/Arduino/STM32, Python or C/C++, CAD tools, and strong documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, robotics or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in embedded systems, mechatronics or robotics prototyping.
• Working knowledge of Raspberry Pi, Arduino or STM32.
• Proficiency in Python and/or C/C++ for data analysis or automation.
• Experience with CAD software for EOAT design and reviews.
• Familiarity with lab instrumentation and testing tools.
• Strong troubleshooting and clear documentation habits.

Responsibilities

• Design and build actuated mechatronic systems for assistive devices.
• Develop embedded control software on platforms like Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and STM32.
• Design, test and iterate on PCBs for sensor and actuation subsystems.
• Integrate sensors with actuators to form closed-loop control.
• Document designs and processes for reproducibility across the team.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software developers and clinicians.
