Job summary

Miftek Corporation in West Lafayette, IN is seeking a full-time Mechatronics Engineer to design fluidics and robotics for next‑gen life science instruments. You will develop electromechanical hardware and real-time firmware to meet high performance standards, in a startup-style environment with growth opportunities.

The role requires 4+ years of experience, a strong background in electromechanical systems, and hands-on fabrication skills.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic, or related engineering field.
• 4+ years of professional design experience preferred.
• Strong fundamentals in electromechanical systems and a desire to learn.
• Ability to design and prototype electronics (MCUs, sensors, drivers).
• Experience with 3D modeling and rapid prototyping.
• Hands-on fabrication skills (milling, drilling, lathe, sheet metal).
• Ability to work with mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers.
• Willingness to understand core technology and adapt to changing tasks.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain fluidic and robotic components of instruments.
• Improve performance, reliability, and manufacturability of designs.
• Develop and maintain real-time control system firmware.
• Implement electronics for power, sensing, and controls.
• Assemble, test, and bring-up new electromechanical hardware.
• Integrate electromechanical designs with optical platforms.
• Participate in design reviews and address critical issues.
