We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world – together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?

Ford’s Electric Vehicles, Digital and Design (EVDD) team is charged with delivering the company’s vision of a fully electric transportation future. EVDD is customer‑obsessed, entrepreneurial, and data‑driven and is dedicated to delivering industry‑leading customer experience for electric vehicle buyers and owners. You’ll join an agile team of doers pioneering our EV future by working collaboratively, staying focused on what matters, and delivering excellence day in and day out. Join us to make positive change by helping build a better world where every person is free to move and pursue their dreams.

In this position, the mechatronics engineer sits at the intersection of highly visible electrical, mechanical, and studio discussions. You will be responsible for full product development ensuring that vehicle devices and cabin experiences are functional, can communicate flawlessly across vehicle networks, provide premium experiences, and follow a given aesthetic and vision. You are the glue that binds it all from cradle to grave.

Responsibilities
  • Own device architecture and schematics to define block diagrams, IO descriptions, component selection/packaging and feature/behavior list.
  • Review PCB designs for integrity and robustness against signal and power considerations and EMC/EMI standards.
  • Ensure vehicle‑level alignment on operating conditions (temperature, voltage, etc.). Oversee network message mapping, diagnostic integration, sleep/wake strategies, and device bring‑up.
  • Source and instruct suppliers on product development while ensuring program milestones, costs, and internal requirements.
  • Develop 3D A‑surface and geometry of innovative designs and solutions, solving for vehicle environments while balancing material, package, and manufacturing methods, mold flows, and more.
  • Own and lead product development interests while navigating supplier and internal challenges. Present in executive‑level meetings for status updates and project buy‑offs.
Qualifications

You'll have

  • B.S. in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering , Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience designing, developing, and releasing one or more interior subsystem or equivalent electronic design experience.
  • 2+ years of experience using 3D CAD software collaboratively (NX, Catia, 3DX, etc.).
  • Proven vehicles launch experience in development, prototyping, builds, and other milestones.
  • Proven experience of known failure modes in PCB design and injection molding.
  • Familiarity with LIN based ECUs and resistor‑based switches.
  • Excellent teamwork, problem‑solving, communication, and project management skills.
  • Driven and eagerness to work cross‑functionally in a dynamic and world‑class environment that aims for excellence.

Even better, you may have

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
  • Hands‑on experience with electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators, power supplies, CANoe/other diagnostic tools, etc.).
  • Excellent understanding of GD&T standards.
  • Working level proficiency of PCBA development on Altium.
  • Experience using Confluence, Jira, Asana, or other project management tools.
  • Familiar with homologation requirements for vehicles (FMVSS/UNECE) and functional safety/HARA (ASIL rating, ISO 26262, ISO 4229 UDS).
  • Thorough understanding of Design Validation and Process Validation.
  • An eye for design aesthetics, colors, materials, finishes along with unique manufacturing methods to attain them.
Benefits
  • Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage.
  • Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp‑up programs, subsidized backup child care and more.
  • Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and more.
  • Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases.
  • Tuition assistance.
  • Established and active employee resource groups.
  • Paid time off for individual and team community service.
  • A generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
