Job summary

Bell and Howell in Durham, NC is seeking a Mechatronics Designer III to drive design, development, documentation, and release of innovative automated products from concept through production.

You will create and maintain 2D drawings and 3D CAD models (NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD), develop multi-level BOMs, coordinate ECOs, and collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Service, and Quality to ensure manufacturability and serviceability throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in a relevant engineering field.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 3–5+ years in mechanical/electromechanical design, mechatronics, automation, or product development.
• Experience supporting products from concept through production release is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and maintain 2D drawings, 3D CAD models, assemblies, layouts, and related product designs.
• Support mechatronic product development from concept through prototype, testing, production release, and product support.
• Translate engineering concepts into accurate documentation for Manufacturing, Service, Procurement, and Quality.
• Apply drafting standards to design work and maintain BOMs and ECO processes.
• Evaluate designs for manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, quality, cost, and reliability.
• Participate in design reviews and cross‑functional project meetings.
