Job summary

European XFEL in the Hamburg area seeks a specialist to coordinate SUNDAE2 operations within the Undulator Systems group. You will integrate and optimize SUNDAE2’s mechanical, electrical, and motion-control systems and support high-precision magnetic characterization.

The role requires a Master’s degree in a related field, hands-on experience with precision measurement and data analysis, and strong English communication in an international environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields (engineering or physics).
• Experience with precision measurement and motion-control systems.
• Knowledge of magnetic measurement techniques is desirable.
• Experience with data analysis and scientific programming (Python, MATLAB).
• Familiarity with electrical design software such as EPLAN.

Responsibilities

• Integration, commissioning, and optimization of SUNDAE2 mechanical, electrical, and motion-control systems.
• Operate, maintain, and develop SUNDAE2 Hall probe measurement for the characterization of superconducting undulators.
• Specify, procure, and integrate new instrumentation with stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Develop and improve measurement procedures.
• Design and maintain mechanical and electrical documentation (NX models and electrical schemes).
