Design the mechanical systems powering the next generation of spacecraft.
An innovative, rapidly expanding space technology company is looking for a Spacecraft Mechanisms Design Engineer to support the development of advanced satellite hardware and precision mechanical systems.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex spacecraft mechanisms, taking designs from initial concept through detailed engineering, manufacturing, integration, and testing — all while enjoying the flexibility of a US-based remote position.
You'll work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, contribute to new hardware development, and help deliver sophisticated mechanical systems designed to operate in the demanding environment of space.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design and develop precision mechanical mechanisms and assemblies for advanced spacecraft applications.
- Perform engineering analysis, trade studies, and design optimization to improve performance and manufacturability.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and mechanical interface documentation.
- Take ownership of mechanical designs throughout the development lifecycle, from concept through integration and testing.
- Collaborate with electrical, systems, manufacturing, and integration engineers to ensure successful hardware delivery.
- Work directly with external suppliers, reviewing designs, defining requirements, and supporting manufacturing activities.
- Support environmental qualification testing, including vibration, thermal, and other mechanical verification activities.
- Investigate hardware issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement engineering improvements.
- Present technical findings and participate in design reviews.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, mechanisms engineering, or complex hardware development.
- Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Siemens NX, or equivalent.
- Understanding of mechanical design principles, tolerancing, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with engineering analysis, design trade studies, or FEA.
- Ability to take ownership of designs and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience supporting hardware through manufacturing, assembly, integration, or testing.
- Spacecraft mechanisms, deployment systems, actuators, hinges, or precision mechanical assemblies.
- Aerospace or other high-performance engineering environments.
- Environmental testing and hardware qualification.
- Supplier management and external manufacturing partnerships.
- PLM/PDM systems and configuration management.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- US-based remote working with opportunities to collaborate directly with engineering and hardware teams.
- Work on cutting-edge satellite technology with real-world flight applications.
- Take ownership of sophisticated mechanical systems from concept through qualification.
- Join a rapidly growing space technology company developing ambitious next-generation spacecraft.
- Gain exposure to multidisciplinary engineering, advanced mechanisms, and complex flight hardware.
