Stress Engineering Services (SES) is seeking a Mechanical Test Engineer to plan, execute, and analyze custom tests in a heavy industrial lab environment in Waller, Texas. You will design fixtures, instrument hardware, collect data, and translate results into actionable insights for clients.
The role requires hands-on testing, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced consulting setting. ITAR qualification is required.
Mechanical Test Engineer in Waller, Texas.
Do you enjoy answering complex engineering questions through hands-on testing, data analysis, and real-world experimentation?
Are you the type of engineer who would rather build a test, collect the data, and find the answer than debate the theory?
As a Test Engineer at SES, you’ll turn complex questions into meaningful data. This role blends mechanical engineering fundamentals with hands-on testing and system operation in a dynamic, industrial laboratory environment. You’ll plan and execute custom tests, design fixtures and methods, instrument hardware, collect high-quality data, and transform results into clear, actionable insights.
Projects span transportation systems, aerospace components, oil and gas equipment, industrial processes, mechanical and electrical systems, and engineering materials. The common thread: understanding how a system is supposed to perform, and proving whether it actually does.
Successful Test Engineers at Stress are adaptable problem solvers who thrive in both independent and collaborative environments. You’re hands‑on, mechanically curious, and comfortable working with electro‑mechanical systems, instrumentation, and multiple sensor types. You can safely navigate a heavy industrial lab setting, juggle competing priorities, and keep projects moving forward, even when tests don’t go as planned.
Strong communication skills are essential. You’ll routinely interact with teammates and clients, translating technical details into clear verbal explanations and well‑written test methods and reports. Experience in regulated or safety‑critical industries (aerospace, transportation, oil and gas, etc.) is a plus. Depending on your experience, you may also take the lead on managing projects, interfacing directly with clients, and guiding the work of other engineers and technicians.
