Job summary

Flexcon is a purpose-driven manufacturer seeking a Mechanical Technician I for our Spencer, MA plant. You will perform routine inspections, maintenance and basic repairs on manufacturing equipment, diagnose issues, and help minimize downtime while following safety standards and LOTO procedures.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or trade training with 0–2 years in manufacturing maintenance, basic math, and experience with hand and power tools, welding, brazing, and small machining

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or trade school completed.
• 0–2 years maintenance/technician experience in manufacturing preferred.
• Basic math and reading a ruler to measure fractions.
• Ability to read and follow SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and basic repairs on manufacturing equipment.
• Diagnose equipment issues and minimize downtime.
• Participate in preventative maintenance of machinery and equipment.
• Operate hand and power tools including drill press, saw, and hydraulic press.
• Perform basic welding, brazing, and use acetylene torches.
• Perform basic carpentry and fabricate parts from drawings.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and spare parts; follow LOTO procedures.

What will you do in this role?

• Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and basic repairs on manufacturing equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
• Assist in diagnosing equipment issues and helping to resolve issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Participate in scheduled preventative maintenance activities of machinery and equipment.
• Perform minor non code requirement piping: air and water
• Use hand, power and basic machine tools including drill press, saw, and Hydraulic press
• Perform basic welding, brazing, and use acetylene torches
• Perform basic carpentry as needed
• Assist in fabricating parts from drawings
• Must be able to use Bridgeport and Lathe for minor machining
• Keep all work orders and spare parts updated
• Follow all preventative maintenance procedures
• Must follow all LOTO procedures
• Could be required to come in for a plant emergency or for snow removal
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs and inspections using required systems.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and tools, contributing to a safe and efficient workspace.
• Perform additional duties as assigned or required

What does it take to be successful in this role?

• High school diploma/GED or accreditation from a technical school or applicable trades program.
• 0-2 Years of relevant experience as a maintenance technician or similar role in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency
• Ability to use hand and power tools
• Able to read, write, and follow standard operating procedures
• Basic math skills including reading a ruler to measure fractions of an inch
• Driver’s License, and ability to obtain a Hydraulic and Hoisting License

Based on region, the expected salary range for this position is $ $19.24-$32.07 an hour.
