Job summary

Smartsearchonline is seeking a Mechanical Technician to modify, test, and repair machinery under the direction of engineering staff. The role supports design validation, development of industrial equipment, and the optimization of performance.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate's degree in engineering technology or a related field and has 8–10 years of hands-on experience with drawings, specifications, and testing procedures. On-site work in Pontiac, MI is required.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve detail drawing or sketch for drafting room completion or to request parts fabrication by machine, sheet or wood shops.
• Approve project instructions and blueprints to ascertain test specifications, procedures, and objectives, and test nature of technical problems such as redesign.
• Approve project instructions and specifications to identify, modify and plan requirements fabrication, assembly and testing.
• Communicate changes in design, method of manufacture and assembly, and drafting techniques and procedures to staff and approve corrections.
• Review and approve tool drawing designs by measuring drawing dimensions and comparing with original specifications for form and function using engineering skills.
• Supervise tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate proposals for improving equipment performance.
• Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives, and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications.
• Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components for products such as industrial machinery or equipment, and measuring instruments.

Summary
