Job summary

NextGenEnergyJobs in Hawthorne, CA is seeking a Mechanical Technician to help build prototypes and test stands for our hydrogen production technology. You will fabricate electrolyzer stacks and integrate mechanical and fluid systems.

Collaborate with engineers to meet design specifications and safety standards, diagnose issues, and record build processes and test results to support traceability. On-site role requires lifting up to 50 lbs and using tools and machining equipment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hardware assembly, test, or maintenance experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• On-site work in Hawthorne, CA.
• Experience fabricating tubing and fittings for high-pressure fluid and gas systems.
• Proficient with hand tools, power tools and machines used to build complex systems.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.

Job description

As a Mechanical Technician , you will play a crucial role in building the prototypes and test stands that form the backbone of our cutting-edge hydrogen production technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble electrolyzer stacks, ensuring high standards for consistency, cleanliness, and quality
• Build and integrate mechanical and fluid systems into the electrolyzer system and balance of plant
• Diagnose and repair any mechanical or fluid issues, ensuring that all systems operate safely and efficiently
• Work closely with engineers to understand design requirements and ensure that builds meet technical specifications and safety standards
• Accurately record build processes, modifications, nonconformances, and test results to support traceability and improvements to system design and production processes
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of experience in hardware assembly, test, maintenance, or similar roles
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
• Able to work on-site in Hawthorne, CA
• Experience with fabricating tubing and fittings for high-pressure fluid and gas systems, perform basic operations (leak test, proof test), and the ability to work safely in these environments
• Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and machines (lathe, mill, laser cutter, welder) to build and assemble complex systems
• Ability to safely operate forklifts (5-15k lb) with non-standard loads and use lifting equipment (gantries, slings, shackles, etc…)
• Familiarity with reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics (P&IDs), work instructions, and technical documents
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems
