Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair production machinery.
  • Disassemble equipment and repair/replace parts.
  • Test machines after repairs to ensure completion.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance as required.
  • Follow blueprints and engineering specifications during repairs.
  • Clean work area after completing repairs.
  • Ensure ISO9001, 14001 and EH&S compliance; follow safety policies and report concerns.
  • Perform Lock Out Tag Out procedures and on-call duties.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives as needed.

Role and Responsibilities

The Mechanical Technician at Filtrona is responsible for maintaining and repairing production machinery, performing preventative and predictive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with ISO9001, 14001, and Environmental, Health, and Safety standards. The role requires following blueprints and engineering specifications and maintaining a clean work area.

  • Maintain and repair production machinery
  • Disassemble the equipment and repair/replace the necessary parts.
  • Test the machine following a repair to ensure repair is complete
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance as required
  • Follow blueprints and engineering specifications in the process of making repairs
  • Responsible for cleaning work area after completing a repair to any equipment
  • ISO9001, 14001 and Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance. (Operates all equipment in the prescribed manner, reports all safety concerns to Supervisor, Production Manager, HS&E Manager, Maintain awareness of company policies, Maintain awareness of company objectives for ISO9001, 14001, 18001 and 45001, Support the company’s continuous improvement initiatives.)
  • Perform Lock out Tag Out requirements
  • Complete all tasks assigned by supervisor
  • Available to be on call.
  • Perform other duties as required.

While performing the duties of this job, you will be exposed to mechanical and electrical parts. The employee is rarely exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate to high if in a factory/warehouse facility.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Associate degree in industrial maintenance technology or equivalent experience.

  • Experience working with PLC and Industrial Equipment controls

  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Experience working in production environment (1-3 years minimum)
  • Mechanical and electrical experience and or multi-craft
Additional Notes
  • Must be able to withstand physical demands of the role, i.e. standing, lifting, working in confined spaces
  • While performing the duties of this job, you are required to regularly stand, use hands to fingers, handle or feel and talk and hear. You are frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to sit, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl in a factory /warehouse facility, confined spaces and the use of personal protective equipment. You must frequently lift and or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
