Continental's specialist team seeks an experienced technician to repair and service customer conveyor systems. You will handle mechanical, electrical, welding, and hydraulic troubleshooting, and perform preventive maintenance as required.

Responsibilities include reading manuals and schematics, setting up conveyors, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and DOT. A strong mechanical background and relevant certifications are preferred.

• Strong mechanical background with bearing installation and fluid power knowledge.
• Basic blueprint reading and general knowledge of conveyor systems.
• Welding: SMAW, GMAW, TIG; oxy/plasma cutting as needed.
• Rigging and signaling for hoisting operations.
• Observe conveyor operations to detect defects or malfunctions.
• Knowledge of laser alignment technology.
• Fabrication and layout abilities.
• HS diploma or GED; 3–6 years related experience preferred.
• Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.

Job Description

Provides scheduled and emergency/unscheduled repairs to customer conveyor systems. Demonstrates skills including but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, fabrication/welding, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting. Reads and interprets equipment manuals, blue prints and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Conducts conveyor systems setup/review, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance services. Complies with all government regulatory requirements, including but not limited to OSHA, MSHA and DOT. Performs other duties as assigned by management and/or as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical background, including bearing installation, fluid power knowledge and best practices of component interchange.


• Basic knowledge of blueprint reading and general knowledge of customers’ conveyor systems.


• Performs welding-SMAW, GMAW and TIG. OXY, PLASMA and AIR ARC cutting as required.


• Demonstrates proper rigging and signaling for hoisting operations.


• Observes conveyor system operations to detect defects or component malfunction.


• General knowledge of laser alignment technology.


• General fabrication and layout abilities.


• High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; three to six years related experience and/or training preferred.


• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to read and interpret metal rule.
