Job summary

Continental is seeking an entry- to mid-level Mechanical Systems Support role in Rocky Mount, VA. You will assist with installation, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical systems used in vehicle and tire testing, and support engineers during test setups and data collection.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or technical certification, familiarity with hand tools and measurement devices, and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems, fasteners, torque principles, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring devices (calipers, torque wrenches, tape measures).
  • Ability to follow mechanical drawings, work instructions, and engineering guidance.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, or equivalent).
  • Legal Authorization to work in the US is required; relocation not provided.
  • Relocation assistance not available.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation, inspection, and basic maintenance of mechanical systems including fixtures, mounts, test rigs, track hardware, and support equipment.
  • Support mechanical assembly and disassembly of components related to vehicle and tire testing activities.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of mechanical issues such as fastener failures, alignment concerns, wear, and vibration.
  • Use hand tools and basic power tools to perform mechanical tasks safely and accurately.
  • Assist engineers during setup and teardown of mechanical test equipment and test vehicles.
  • Support alignment, torque checks, fluid checks, and basic adjustments required for testing activities.
  • Assist with routine inspections of test tracks, mechanical fixtures, and support equipment to identify defects or wear.
  • Support data collection activities by ensuring mechanical systems are properly installed and functioning.
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance tasks on mechanical equipment as assigned.
  • Follow all site safety rules, lockout/tagout procedures, and job safety analyses (JSA).
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or abnormal operation to supervisors.
