Job summary

WEG Electric Corp. is seeking a Mechanical Technician in the Duluth, GA area to assemble and prepare electrical control panels for wiring. You will mount components and verify panels against drawings and BOMs, ensuring accuracy and readiness for the next assembly stage.

The role requires reading prints, using hand and power tools, and maintaining a 5S-compliant workstation. A high school diploma or GED is required, with 1+ years of related experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to read mechanical prints, BOMs, and schematics.
• Hands-on with hand and power tools; strong measurement skills.
• Detail-oriented with ability to follow exact instructions and cycle targets.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings, panel layouts, and BOMs.
• Mount and secure components onto sub-panels and enclosures.
• Lay out, drill, tap, cut, and punch back-panels and enclosures to specification.
• Apply component labels and wire markers per documentation.
• Kit, stage, and verify all components per Production Order before panels move to wiring.
• Use hand and power tools (torque drivers, bandsaws, drills, taps) and measuring instruments (calipers, squares, tape).
• Work to torque specs and standard work instructions; perform in-process self-inspection.
• Identify and flag non-conforming parts and assemblies.
• Maintain a clean, organized 5S-compliant workstation and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Use all required PPE and adhere to safety standards.

About The Role

Primary Responsibilities

• Read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings, panel layouts, and bills of materials (BOMs).
• Mount and secure components onto sub-panels and enclosures
• Lay out, mark, drill, tap, cut, and punch back-panels and enclosures to specification.
• Apply component labels and wire markers per documentation.
• Kit, stage, and verify all components per Production Order before panels move to wiring.
• Use hand and power tools (torque drivers, bandsaws, drills, taps) and measuring instruments (calipers, squares, tape).
• Work to torque specs and standard work instructions; perform in-process self-inspection.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED

Knowledge/Training

• Ability to read and work from mechanical prints, schematics, and BOMs.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools (drills, bandsaw, taps) and measuring instruments.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Ability to work to a cycle-time / production target.
• Hands-on experience with 5S and Kaizen events.

Experience

• 1+ years of experience in panel, electromechanical, or mechanical assembly is preferred.
