Job summary

thyssenkrupp Presta Dynamic Components in Danville, IL seeks a Mechanical Technician to systematically maintain, troubleshoot and repair all production machinery and control subsystems while upholding the highest safety standards.

Your responsibilities

As a Mechanical Technician, you will systematically maintain, troubleshoot and repair all production related machinery, mechanical systems and control sub-systems while maintaining the highest safety standards and best work practices. This position requires a strong commitment to safety as well as demonstrating exemplary safety behavior for colleagues.

Key Deliverables
  • Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Has authority to stop processes to correct quality, safety or environmental problems, identify and place suspect product on quality hold, and to promptly notify Supervisory personnel when processes become noncompliant.
  • Accurately diagnose equipment issues, implement effective repair and maintenance solutions, verify the effectiveness of completed work, and restore equipment to a safe, reliable operating condition.
  • Utilize the CMMS daily to receive and manage service cases, accurately report labor, spare parts usage, and maintain complete work history records.
  • Preferred experience in fabrication, grinding, machining, turning, and welding to manufacture, modify, and repair parts and components.
  • Use precision measurement and alignment tools to ensure equipment is operating within specifications.
  • Read and understand engineering drawings and blueprints for mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Accurately sign out and document materials from storerooms, vertical storage unit locations, and other SAP inventory locations.
  • Work individually or within cross-functional teams in order to perform all maintenance and repair duties.
  • Respond to all customers both internal and external with a sense of urgency and professionalism.
  • Train Production Support staff and Operators in the specifics of maintaining the machines and equipment.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Participate in work/process studies and trials for Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with the specification, design and installation of specialty tools and equipment.
  • Assist with new equipment installation and acceptance testing.
  • Contribute toward the development of work instructions and maintenance procedures.
  • Obtain supplier training for new and existing equipment that may require out-of-state or overseas travel.
  • Maintain high housekeeping and 6S standards at all times and in all areas including the workshop, personal toolbox and job site during and at completion of all tasks.
Your profile

To perform this job successfully, a successful candidate will be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Education: Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school. Associate's in industrial technology preferred. In lieu of degree, two years of documented military education from a technical school in relevant electronic or mechanical areas is acceptable; 2 years or more related experience and/or training preferred. Mechatronics Certificate preferred.
  • Language: Must have the ability to read and comprehend company policies and guidelines pertaining to safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to write routine work activity and failure reports, basic work instructions and correspondence. Must have the ability to speak respectfully and effectively to customers and other employees.
  • Technology: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of SAP Integrated Business software. Must be able to learn and use MRO CPOS Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Microsoft Office Suites software and Microsoft Explorer browser in a windows operating system. Mechanical equipment includes, but is not limited to state-of-the-ary mechanical systems, advanced hydraulics, high speed spindles, assembly presses, conveyor systems, pneumatic systems, harmonic gear reducers, advanced measuring systems and laser alignment equipment.
  • Travel: up to 5%, including International
