Job summary

In this role they will be assigned overall responsibility for all mechanical systems in an agency, institution, facility or assigned area and the design, installation and maintenance of such systems within the assigned area of responsibility.Education and ExperienceEducation and Experience requirements at this level consist of active or inactive licensure as a Mechanical Contractor with the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and CompetenciesKnowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of the operation of a variety of heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration systems; of the methods, materials, fixtures, tools and equipment utilized in heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration maintenance; of standard safety precautions in the trade; of supervisory principles and practices; and of laws, rules and regulations governing the planning, installation, repair, maintenance, and alteration of heating and refrigeration systems.Ability is required to maintain and repair various types of heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment; to install various types of heating and air conditioning components; to provide guidance and training to assigned work crews; to perform highly independent work; and to read and interpret blueprints.Special RequirementsIn order to operate state-owned vehicles in the performance of regularly assigned duties, some positions may require that the successful applicant possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license at the time of appointment.Some positions may require possession of active licensure within 30 days of appointment.Depending upon the specific position to be filled, the agency may require licensure in one or more of the following categories: air conditioning (unlimited and limited); heating (unlimited and limited); refrigeration; sheet metal; gas piping.Air-conditioning limited is systems under 25 tons in size.
