Moog Inc. in Torrance, CA is seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer to advance hydraulic and electromechanical actuation systems for military aircraft. This hybrid role reports to the Section Head, Mech Systems Engineering, with a 9/80 schedule and travel within the United States.
You will translate requirements, collaborate across Moog sites, and develop verification plans through the full product lifecycle, contributing to high-performance aerospace systems for advanced programs.

Our team in Military Aircraft Group is looking for a Mechanical Systems Engineer to help develop the next generation of flight control and weapons bay actuations systems for military aircraft. You will report to the Mechanical Systems Engineering Section Head and will have a 9/80 hybrid work schedule in Torrance, CA.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to advanced new product development programs from concept through qualification. You'll work alongside experienced engineers to solve complex technical challenges, influence system design decisions, and play a key role in delivering high-performance hydraulic and electromechanical actuator systems to our customers.

Support the development, integration, and verification of advanced hydraulic and electromechanical actuation systems
Translate customer and system needs into clear, traceable engineering requirements
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and engineering groups across Moog sites to drive product development efforts
Develop verification strategies, requirements traceability documentation, and qualification plans
Create and execute test plans and procedures to verify system performance and compliance
Analyze test results and generate clear, concise technical reports and presentations
Support system integration activities, troubleshooting efforts, and root cause investigations
Present technical information to internal stakeholders and customers
Travel approximately 5-15% to Moog and customer locations, primarily within the United States
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another STEM discipline
3+ years of engineering experience, preferably supporting aerospace or defense product development programs
Experience with one or more phases of the product development lifecycle, including requirements development, system design, integration, testing, verification, and validation
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced engineering environment
Experience developing or verifying aerospace actuation, flight control, or other complex aerospace systems
Familiarity with requirements management and systems engineering tools such as DOORS and Cameo
Experience working with safety-critical or mission-critical systems
Hands-on experience testing hydraulic and/or electromechanical systems
Experience supporting new product development within the aerospace or defense industry

Torrance, CA $90,000.00-$135,000.00 Annually
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
