R.J. Corman Railroad Company is seeking a Mechanical Supervisor to lead our mechanical operations team in Hondo, TX. The role focuses on safe and efficient supervision of daily locomotive maintenance, inspections, and repairs, with occasional travel to other locations.

Qualifications emphasize mechanical experience, knowledge of power tools and hydraulics, and preferred electrical and rail car repair experience. Medical card holders are a plus as are safety-focused, hands-on leaders.

R.J. Corman Railroad Company is currently seeking an Mechanical Supervisor to join our team in Hondo, TX.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the safe, efficient, and profitable general management of mechanical operations.
• Oversees efficient operation through planning and control of daily operations, crew scheduling, and supervising.
• Follow and monitor work practices, safety related issues to improve quality and performance
• Locomotive and FRA inspections.
• Locomotive repairs including mechanical, air and electrical.
• Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and general repairs on assigned company locomotives, vehicles, and equipment.
• Freight car repair if necessary.
• Must operate Commercial Motor Vehicle.
• Some travel to other locations required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Specialized Or Technical Knowledge, Or Education And Experience

• Mechanical experience required.
• Knowledge of power and hydraulic tools.
• Electrical experience preferred.
• Experience in rail car repair preferred.
• Welding and Oxygen/acetylene torching experience a plus.
• Medical Card holders a plus!

Physical Requirements

• Requires constant standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and balancing in a safe manner.
• Requires frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
• Able to frequently lift and carry equipment weighing up to 30lbs.
• Able to push and pull with 100lbs of force, the force required to push/pull hand brakes.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Must be able to properly wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.

Environmental Conditions

• Must be able to perform specified duties outside in all weather conditions.
