Scope of Work

The Mechanical Supervisor oversees the maintenance, repair, and installation of mechanical systems and equipment at NAS Whidbey Island. This role ensures system readiness, compliance with codes and safety standards, and provides technical direction to mechanical staff. The supervisor oversees planning, scheduling, and quality assurance for all mechanical work in support of government operations.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, schedule, and direct preventive and corrective maintenance for HVAC, plumbing, piping, pumps, compressors, and other mechanical systems.
  • Supervise and inspect the installation, modification, and repair of mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, OSHA regulations, and Navy/DoD requirements.
  • Diagnose mechanical equipment malfunctions and oversee repairs to restore full operational capability.
  • Interpret and apply blueprints, technical manuals, and engineering drawings to ensure work accuracy and quality.
  • Manage work orders, maintenance schedules, and documentation in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Coordinate with other trades, subcontractors, and government representatives to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.
  • Respond to emergency mechanical failures and mission-critical repairs.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and related components, with applicable licenses or certifications (e.g., HVAC/R, Universal EPA Certification).
  • Proven ability to plan, lay out, and direct installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Skilled in interpreting mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment and hand/power tools required for mechanical system maintenance.
  • Leadership skills to supervise a team of mechanical technicians and coordinate cross-trade activities.
  • Ability to complete and maintain a government security clearance as required.
  • Maintain licenses and/or credentials required for this position.
  • Ability to access government worksite.
  • Valid state driver’s license and safe driving record, to operate vehicles or equipment as required.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and perform pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching for extended periods.
  • Work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions.
  • On-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules may be required, including weekends and holidays.
  • Work may be indoors or outdoors with appropriate PPE.
