Job summary

Inteplast Group in Kentucky is seeking a Mechanical Supervisor to lead the day-to-day maintenance operations, manage spare parts inventory, and ensure cost-effective, safe plant reliability. The role requires extensive maintenance experience, leadership capabilities, and hands-on skills in welding, milling, and machine upkeep; you will coordinate with production and QA teams and supervise technicians.

This position demands flexibility for non-standard hours.

Qualifications

• Ten years of manufacturing experience in a maintenance role.
• Degree may substitute for two years of experience and two years supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of Mechanical Maintenance Technicians.
• Assist in overseeing Maintenance contractor work.
• Perform duties of Maintenance Technician as needed.
• Fill in for Sr. Maintenance Manager in their absence.
• Ensure preventive, predictive maintenance schedules are met.
• Train employees on computerized AMMC maintenance programs.
• Guide maintenance to safe, swift corrective actions per OEM guidelines.
• Maintain supplies, tools, and parts.
• Coordinate with Production, QA, and Logistics during downtimes.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and replace mechanical equipment.
• Ensure equipment remains in good working condition.
• Enforce safety equipment use and housekeeping.
• Maintain certifications and train maintenance staff.
• Perform other duties as directed.
• Comply with SQF procedures.
• Report food safety problems to management or SF Practitioner.

TITLE: Mechanical Supervisor

POSITION OBJECTIVE: This position is responsible for day to day mechanical maintenance operations as well as spare parts inventory and requisitions. Also, to ensure that the plant maintenance is conducted in a cost effective and safe manner that will maximize equipment uptime.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ten (10) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment in a maintenance role
• A college degree or vocational degree may substitute for two (2) years’ experience and two (2) years supervisory experience
• Must have good communications skills.
• Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office
• Must be able to multi-task
• Must have working knowledge of electronic systems
• Must possess welding, machining, and millwright skills
• Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Direct supervision of Mechanical Maintenance Technicians
• Responsible to assist in overseeing Maintenance contractor work
• Ability to perform all duties of Maintenance Technician as outlined in Job Description 02
• Ability to fill in for Sr. Maintenance Manager in their absence
• Ensures preventative, predictive Maintenance schedules are met
• Train employees on computerized AMMC maintenance programs
• Responsible for day to day guidance of seeing that maintenance issues obtain safe, swift, corrective actions in line with the original equipment manufacturers guidelines and assisting the maintenance team to resolve repetitive equipment failures
• Maintain supplies, tools, work order parts, and emergency orders, etc
• Coordinates with Production, QA, and Logistics on maintenance during downtimes
• Assists in troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of mechanical equipment
• Ensures all equipment is maintained and in good working condition
• Ensures maintenance technicians wear all safety equipment and follow good housekeeping policies
• Maintains professional certifications and ensures maintenance employees are properly trained
• Performs other duties as directed by the Sr. Maintenance Manager
• Complies with all SQF procedures
• Reports any food safety problems to a member of management or SF Practitioner

WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:

• Inside environmental conditions protected from weather conditions, not necessarily temperature conditions.
• Outside environmental conditions, no effective protection from weather.
• Inside and outside environments apply.
• Subject to extreme cold; temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
• Subject to extreme heat; temperatures above 100 degrees for more than one hour.
• Subject to noise, causing reason to shout in order to be heard above the noise level.
• Subject to vibration, exposure, fluctuating movement of the body.
• Subject to hazards such as moving machinery, electrical currents, falling debris, exposure to chemicals, gases, high heat or explosives.
• Subject to unregulated atmospheric conditions caused by odors, fumes, gases, poor ventilation and dusts.
• Subject to oils and other cutting fluids via touch or air.
• Air density conditions causing the use of a respirator.
