TDIndustries, Inc. in Texas is seeking a Construction Superintendent to lead and coordinate complex projects, from new facilities to renovations, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

You will supervise multi-trade teams, organize crews and manage materials and equipment to meet schedules and budget. The role requires 5–7 years of construction management experience, applicable licenses, and a strong command of blueprints, BIM drawings, and value planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Science, Building Science, Construction Management or related field preferred.
  • Must possess all relevant licenses and certifications required for the position.
  • Construction Superintendent certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in construction management.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods.
  • Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, coordination and/or BIM drawings, submittals, specifications, details and job orders.
  • Understanding of all facets of the construction process.
  • Ability to plan and see the 'big picture'.
  • Competent in conflict and crisis management.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Excellent time and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a leader on projects and provides technical expertise to partners to adhere to construction processes for safety and quality.
  • Manages, coaches, and develops direct reports; conducts performance conversations.
  • Establishes and adjusts work sequences to meet construction schedules using equipment/tools capacities and personnel.
  • Confirms earned value of work and accuracy of Forecasted Percent Completions.
  • Inspects work in progress and completed work to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Performs safety observations and eliminates hazards to reduce incidents and severity.
  • Understands and practices Quality/LEAN principles (pull planning, six-week look ahead, value mapping, constraint logs).
  • Budget projects by estimating worker hours and monitoring schedules; provides material takeoff, estimate and pricing for changes.
  • Assists in resolving construction problems and advises senior supervision of potential issues.
  • Maintains liaison with Purchasing, Quality Control, Engineering to support craft activities and schedule.
  • Conducts pre-job and planning meetings to review contract terms, clauses and unusual requirements.

Job description

Job Summary

Leads or coordinates construction projects such as developing a new facility; the addition, expansion or extension of an existing facility; or renovation/alterations to a facility in collaboration with project team, construction site and management. Typically responsible for multiple jobs, supervising one or more trade groups. Develops assignments, timetables and responsibilities for team members for the duration of the project. Organizes and directs construction personnel and ensures that materials and equipment resources are delivered on time.

Essential Duties
  • Serves as a leader on projects and provides technical expertise to partners in order to adhere to all construction processes designed to complete projects safely and with a high standard of quality.
  • Manages, coaches, and develops direct reports. Conducts timely, complete, and meaningful performance management conversations.
  • Establishes and adjusts work sequences to meet construction schedules utilizing knowledge of equipment/tools capacities and assigned personnel.
  • Confirms earned value of work and accuracy of Forecasted Percent Completions.
  • Inspects work in progress and completed work periodically to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Performs all required safety observations and eliminates construction and job site hazards as they are recognized to reduce safety incidents and their severity.
  • Understands and practices Quality/LEAN principles (pull planning, six-week look ahead, value mapping, constraint logs, etc.).
  • Ability to budget projects by estimating worker hour requirements to meet the needs of the construction schedule and project budget. Monitors schedules to ensure they match project schedules. Provides material takeoff, estimate and pricing for changes to work scope.
  • Assists in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, required manpower, etc.). Advises senior level supervision and project management of potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc. Assists in circumventing/resolving such problems as required.
  • Maintains liaison with other departments, (i.e., Purchasing, Quality Control, Engineering, etc.) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule.
  • Conducts pre-job and planning meetings to ensure all project team members understand contract terms and conditions, clauses, schedules or any unusual requirements of the project.
Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Science, Building Science, Construction Management or related field is preferred.
