Job summary

Wohlsen Construction seeks an experienced Mechanical Superintendent in Lancaster, PA to provide field leadership for mechanical construction from pre-construction through project completion. You will oversee mechanical crews, coordinate with trades, review drawings and RFIs, and ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence.

Responsibilities include coordinating with BIM, Subcontractors, and the Project Team, managing look-ahead schedules, and driving commissioning and closeout activities.

Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of progressively responsible mechanical construction experience, with field supervision preferred.
  • Experience as Mechanical Superintendent, Mechanical Foreman, or similar leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical construction methods, materials, and installation practices.
  • Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, specs, equipment schedules, and shop drawings.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes (ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA).
  • Knowledge of Procore, Bluebeam, Office software; BIM coordination is a plus.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.

  • Identify and resolve field coordination issues.
  • Lead project coordination meetings; manage subcontractor performance.
  • Coordinate equipment deliveries, installation, startup, testing, balancing, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Maintain punch lists and ensure timely completion of mechanical work.
  • Assist with RFIs, change orders, procurement, and project documentation.
  • Collaborate with BIM Coordinator for coordination and constructability.
  • Promote a safe, organized, and productive job site.
  • Partner with client, architects, engineers, and vendors to deliver project.

About Your Opportunity:

You will provide field leadership and oversight of mechanical construction activities from pre-construction through project completion. You will work closely with the Project Team, mechanical subcontractors, design team, and client to ensure mechanical work is safely, efficiently, and correctly installed in accordance with the contract documents, schedule, codes, and company standards.

How You’ll Contribute:

  • Provide overall field supervision and leadership for mechanical construction activities.
  • Manage and coordinate mechanical subcontractors, vendors, and other trades.
  • Review mechanical drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
  • Monitor mechanical installations for quality, schedule, code compliance, and adherence to plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate mechanical work with electrical, plumbing, fire protection, architectural, and structural systems.
  • Develop and monitor mechanical look-ahead schedules and coordinate manpower, materials, and equipment.

  • Participate in project coordination meetings and hold subcontractors accountable for schedule and quality.

  • Assist with RFIs, change orders, procurement, and project documentation.
  • Work with the BIM Coordinator and Project Team on mechanical coordination and constructability.
  • Promote a safe, organized, and productive job site.
  • Partner with the client, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to successfully deliver the project.
  • Provide field expertise, mentorship, and support to the Project Team.

Qualifications

  • Seven to Ten years of progressively responsible mechanical construction experience, with field supervision experience preferred.
  • Experience as a Mechanical Superintendent, Mechanical Foreman, or similar field leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical construction methods, materials, and installation practices.
  • Working knowledge of applicable building codes, ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, and other industry standards.
  • Experience with HVAC systems, hydronic systems, piping, air distribution, controls, equipment startup, and testing and balancing.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, equipment schedules, and shop drawings.
  • Working knowledge of Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and BIM coordination software preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel and work overtime, weekends, or be on call as needed.
