Job summary

Sonos invites you to join a 6-month co-op program in Boston, blending creativity, technology, and sound. This full-time, 40-hour-per-week role requires you to be on-site at least 4 days/week, January 2027 through June 2027, with no relocation or housing assistance.

You will analyze materials data, develop data tools and dashboards, and support material lifecycle management. This is a hands-on opportunity to work with data across resins, metals, and plastics while learning from industry experts.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in BI, data science, engineering, or a related field.
• Experience collecting, normalizing, and manipulating datasets (Excel, SQL, Python, or similar).
• Familiar with AI tools for research, data processing, or analysis (Claude, ChatGPT).
• Strong attention to detail and comfort with technical/manufacturing data.
• Self-directed with strong organizational skills and able to manage multiple tracking systems.

Responsibilities

• Support materials strategy by analyzing usage across resin, paint, rubber, and metals; create a data repository.
• Develop a raw material part numbering scheme and support BOM level creation; build sourcing tools and dashboards.
• Develop tools for risk mitigation around raw materials (RoHS, conflict minerals, PFAS).
• Collaborate with BU stakeholders and Finance to create an asset management process/database for MTS parts.
• Build and maintain an asset library tracking condition, counts, numbers, and locations for tools and automation equipment.

Work Period: January 2027 - June 2027

Location & Schedule: This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position with a minimum 4 days per week onsite in our Boston, MA office. There is no relocation or housing assistance for this position.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Support materials strategy by analyzing current usage across resin, paint, rubber, and metals; lead creation of database to house and manage data
• Develop a raw material part numbering scheme, and working with key internal stakeholders support formal BOM level creation; use to develop critical sourcing tools, metrics and dashboards
• Develop tools to support risk mitigation surrounding raw material (RoHS, Conflict minerals, PFAS etc)
• Working with key BU stakeholder and Finance support creation of a formalized asset management process and database for MTS parts.
• Build and maintain a formal asset library - tracking condition, shot counts, asset numbers, and locations for tools, fixtures, jigs, and automation equipment.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

Basic Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree, with junior/senior standing preferred, in Business Intelligence, Data Science, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field
• Experience collecting, normalizing, and manipulating datasets (Excel, SQL, Python, or similar)
• Working familiarity with AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT for research, data processing, or analysis
• Strong attention to detail and comfort working with technical/manufacturing data
• Self-directed with strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple tracking systems and deliverables

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Snowflake and Tableau, or similar data warehousing/BI tools
• Coursework or interest in plastics, manufacturing, engineering, or sourcing/procurement
• Familiarity with PLM or PDM systems (e.g., Arena) or ERP/BOM structures
• Exposure to sustainability or materials compliance topics (RoHS, conflict minerals, PFAS)
• Experience building databases or trackers to support forecasting or reporting

PROGRAM QUALIFICATIONS

• Currently enrolled in a College or University with a preferred field of study in business intelligence; data science/engineering
• Available to participate in our full-time co-op program from January - June 2027
• Ability to work out of our Boston office a minimum 4 days per week
