HARMAN Automotive in Warren, Michigan seeks a Resident Engineer to drive program development for GM collaborations. You will coordinate cross-functional priorities, provide CAD data, and present technical solutions to GM teams, ensuring timely issue resolution and design integrity.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in engineering, CAD tools experience (CATIA/SolidWorks/NX), and familiarity with Teamcenter VIS Mockup.

• Support CIT meetings and present issues/resolutions weekly.
• Attend VPIT meetings and explain design perspectives to GM stakeholders.
• Create change requests inside GM systems to document and track designs.

What You'll Be Part Of

As Resident Engineer, you will be an individual contributor in a direct customer-facing role within HARMAN Automotive, helping drive product development and solutions for key customer programs. You will work closely with General Motors (GM) engineering & HARMAN Engineering and program management. This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys coordinating cross-functional priorities, solving problems, and moving forward HARMAN'S speaker designs inside of GM.

How You'll Make An Impact

• Work within GMs Team Center database to provide data and CAD to HARMAN's engineering team
• Create and present technical presentations that include dimensions, cross-section, and design proposals to demonstrate solutions to GM
• Run weekly Program Development Team (PDT) meetings and record open issues/issue resolutions/program timing weekly with the respective program team to successfully move the program forward
• Support Compartment Integration (CIT) Meetings and presenting issues/issue resolutions weekly to support design solutions
• Attend Vehicle Performance Integration Team (VPIT) meetings and present issues/issue resolutions to explain HARMAN'S design perspective
• Create change requests inside of GM systems to document and to update and track HARMAN's mechanical designs

What Makes You A Strong Fit

• Bachelor's degree in engineering
• Experience with CAD applications - CATIA/ SolidWorks/ NX (preferred)
• Experience with Teamcenter VIS Mockup or comparable tools to evaluate vehicle packaging
• Ability to manage customer program milestones across engineering, keeping priorities clear and open issues moving toward resolution
• Relationship-building skills that build trust with the customer
• Never-ending curiosity to learn, discover, gain knowledge on projects, processes, components, vehicle architecture, and other engineering domains
• Clear communication and sound judgment when explaining technical tradeoffs to customers, product teams, and engineering partners so decisions can be made quickly.
• We see AI as an important part of how work gets done. While tools may vary, a baseline familiarity with using AI to support efficiency, problem-solving, and quality is expected.

Bonus Points if You Have

• Experience in customer facing roll with an OEM
• Experience as a Design Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Design Release Engineer, or Technical Program Manager on Mechanical Programs
• Mechanical/Automotive Engineering experience on OEM programs
• Experience working in GM systems
• Knowledge and experience of automotive manufacturing process - Metal Stamping, Casting, Forming, Plastic injection molding and 3D Printing, Additive manufacturing details

Things To Know

• This role is based in Warren, Michigan and follows a hybrid schedule, with 3 day in-office collaboration alongside engineering, product, and customer program teams.
• This position supports global product launch timelines, so occasionally early morning or evening meetings may be needed to collaborate with teams in Europe and Asia.
• Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment (post-offer).

Pay

$ 78,750 - $ 115,500

Dependent on the position offered, other forms of compensation are also available, such as bonuses or commission.

Pay is based on a wide range of factors, including, without limitation, skill set, experience, training, location, and business need. While the above range is a reasonable estimate of the wage range for this position, please note the disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographical differential associated with the location where the position may be filled.
