Job summary

Worthington Steel in Rome, NY seeks a Mechanical Reliability Engineer / Project Engineer to maintain and improve a 24-hour steel processing facility. You will lead reliability projects, support slitting lines, rolling mills, hydraulic systems, and material handling equipment, while coordinating with maintenance and operations teams on downtime reduction.

The role combines hands-on troubleshooting with project leadership, including capital installations, budget management, and safety compliance

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
3–5 years of engineering experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial environments.
Proficiency with CAD and SolidWorks; strong troubleshooting and project execution skills.

Responsibilities

Serve as primary mechanical engineering resource for a 24-hour facility.
Lead root cause investigations and permanent corrective actions.
Manage capital projects from concept to startup, including budgeting and vendor management.
Develop and improve preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and suppliers to reduce downtime and improve safety.
