Job summary

Westlake Chemical is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to coordinate, troubleshoot, and supervise the Maintenance department's activities. The role involves planning and implementing preventive maintenance and capital projects to improve plant reliability and production performance.

The candidate should have a BS in Mechanical or Materials Engineering and 5–10 years of reliability experience in a chemical manufacturing facility, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Requires B.S. in Mechanical or Materials Engineering, preferably 5–10 years of reliability engineering experience in a chemical manufacturing facility.
• Ability to manage and lead both strategic long-term programs and short-term operational issues.
• Strong verbal communication skills and computer skills in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, troubleshoot, direct and supervise the Maintenance department work effort.
• Plan and install new and improved mechanical equipment to increase efficiency and performance.
• Report project/work order costs and equipment status; manage SAP data.
• Coordinate project scheduling considering downtime, materials, and manpower.
• Develop and execute capital projects and provide economic justification for management review.
• Lead OEE initiatives and participate in department KPI meetings.
