Job summary

Loenbro, LLC seeks a Quality Control Technician to support our Midwest Industrial Construction team in Ellendale, North Dakota. The role focuses on inspections, NDT coordination, and QA plan implementation, working closely with engineering, construction, and fabrication teams.

The ideal candidate will have NDT knowledge, ASTM standards experience, and strong documentation skills, with willingness to travel as needed. This is a full-time onsite position with a commitment to safety and excellence.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of NDT methods and industry standards.
  • ASTM standards and materials knowledge.
  • AWS CWI or ASNT VT II preferred or VT II readiness.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Strong communication with team and stakeholders.
  • Excellent reading and interpretation of drawings.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Proactive, quick learner and team player.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections (Bolt Up, Torque, Piping Walk-Downs).
  • Enter inspection data into tracking tools.
  • Assist with pressure testing plans and procedures.
  • Review and file NDE/NDT reports.
  • Collaborate with NDE personnel for planning.
  • Assemble and review project documentation packages.
  • Conduct inspections per drawings, specs, and procedures.
  • Develop Project Quality Assurance Plans and provide training.

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced initiative-taking QC Inspector to join our growing Industrial Construction team. This position will be responsible for the duties listed below along with other related functions. A team-oriented mentality and the drive to continuously improve is what sets the Loenbro team at the top of the industry. This position works closely with related engineering, construction, fabrication, and other departments to ensure that the team's aligned goals are met. Employee will be expected to travel to remote jobs as needed throughout the intermountain region and possibly beyond

Job Duties
  • Perform inspections including:
    • Bolt Up inspections
    • Torque Inspections
    • Piping Walk-Downs for Punchlist
  • Enter inspection information into tracking tools.
  • Assist with pressure testing plans and functions.
  • Review and File NDE/NDT Reports.
  • Work with NDE personnel for planning and execution of work.
  • Assemble and review project documentation packages.
  • Perform and document inspections based on drawings, specifications, and procedures to determine compliance.
  • Review requirements and ensure procedures comply.
  • Create and implement Project Quality Assurance Plans.
  • Provide support and training to other inspectors.
  • Write inspection and assess plans (I&TP’s).

Skills/Qualifications
  • Knowledge of NDT methods (UT, MT, PT, RT) with ASNT-SNT-TC-1A documented training/hands on hours.
  • Well-rounded with ASTM standards and materials.
  • AWS CWI or ASNT VT II or ability to pass the VT II exam- preferred but not required
  • Efficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers Quality Control Inspector.
  • Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills.
  • Elevated level of organizational skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of reading and understanding drawings.
  • Must be a quick learner and motivated.
  • Ability to travel and relocate as needed.
  • Initiative-taking with the drive to learn and grow.
  • Must be able to work as a team.
Work Environment
  • This position may require travel to various project sites.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines.
Potential Hazards
  • Outside most of the time
  • Potential exposure to extreme cold and hot temperatures
  • Manufacturing and refining environment
  • Fit and move in confined spaces including tanks and vessels
  • Limited working surfaces
  • Exposure to noise above 85 decibels and intense odors
  • Exposure to areas with limited visibility
  • Climbing up and down stairs and ladders to both get in and out of trenches and up to elevated platforms (scaffolding at significant heights)
  • Lifting necessary equipment and materials 1-50 pounds, 50% of the time on a monthly basis for required tasks
  • Potential or Periodic amounts of time for the following:
  • If driving is required, valid driver license and proof of insurability is required. All drivers are subject to a DMV background records search.
Essential Requirements
  • Walking on uneven terrain, with an average of 2 miles per day
  • Standing
  • Sit, stoop, crawl, and kneel
  • Use of respirator if position requires
  • Driving if required to travel
