Our client is developing and operating a major chemical manufacturing facility in Waggaman, Louisiana, producing Dimethyl Carbonate (DMC) and Ethyl Methyl Carbonate (EMC) for the battery supply chain. The site is a petrochemical/chemical manufacturing operation requiring engineering support for construction, commissioning, startup, reliability, maintenance, and operations activities
Job Summary
The Mechanical Project Engineer Storage Tank and Truck Loading Area is responsible for the coordination and oversight of the truck loading facilities, process and product storage tank areas and flare system equipment and interconnecting piping systems. As the project engineer you are responsible to ensure that all system equipment and piping systems are delivered on time, within budget, meet the highest quality standards, while also managing the detail design, delivery, punch list equipment startup and commissioning activities. This role works closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to reduce downtime, optimize asset performance, and support operational excellence.

Skills And Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, advanced degrees or certifications (PMP, LEED, etc.) are advantageous.
Experience: 8 - 10+ years in Petrochem/Chemicals/Refinery construction, or project management, with experience in manufacturing and utilities. Previous knowledge and understanding of how storage tanks, truck loading systems, pumps, valves, meters, alarms and interlocks are controlled and monitored.
Technical Skills: Basic mechanical engineering, design, delivery startup and commissioning of truck loading facilities, storage tank areas and flare systems, piping, mechanical and instrumentation operational technology (OT) control packages used to monitor and control these facilities.
Project Management Skills: Proficiency in project management software, budgeting tools, and data analysis; ability to use modeling and reporting to support decision-making
Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities; ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
FLSA Status: Full-Time, Exempt
