Job summary

Sharpe Engineering & Equipment seeks a Mechanical Project Engineer – Industrial Systems to design, develop, and execute critical mechanical utility systems for industrial and food & beverage processing environments.

This hands-on role focuses on boiler systems, steam distribution, hot water systems, and glycol cooling, taking projects from concept through design, equipment specification, installation, and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Experience designing industrial boiler systems, steam/hydronic systems, or glycol cooling systems.
• Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments preferred.
• EIT certification preferred; PE license is a plus.
• Strong understanding of steam generation, hydronic heating, and glycol-based systems.
• Experience with AutoCAD.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and support industrial boiler systems, steam and condensate return systems, hot water heating systems, and glycol-based cooling systems.
• Perform load calculations, heat transfer analysis, equipment sizing, and pump and piping design.
• Prepare PFDs, P&IDs, system layouts, and equipment specifications.
• Assist in selecting boilers, heat exchangers, pumps, expansion tanks, controls, and related components.
• Develop designs that prioritize reliability, energy efficiency, and long-term performance.
• Execute engineering tasks aligned with project scope, schedule, and budget.
• Prepare and review equipment specifications and vendor submittals.
• Provide technical problem-solving and design recommendations.
• Support commissioning, field testing, troubleshooting, and installation activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Ensure compliance with ASME, NFPA, and applicable standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering standards and workflows.
• Maintain accurate documentation and revision control.
